CORA LEE GUTHRIE BUCKNER
WEAVERVILLE—Cora Lee Guthrie Buckner, age 89, formerly of 245 Reems Creek Road, Weaverville died Friday, January 09, 2009.
Mrs. Buckner was born October 9, 1919 in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a member of Sexton Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Buckner was the daughter of the late William and Mary Hunter Guthrie and wife of the late Huey Buckner who died in 1966. Her brothers, Troy, Frank and Doyle Guthrie as well as sisters, Edith McIntosh and Alma Fisher preceded her in death.
Surviving is her daughter, Nancy Hamlin of Weaverville; sons, Calvin Lunsford of Burnsville, V.C. Buckner of Weaverville and Vernon Buckner of Candler; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11th in Gabriel's Creek Cemetery, Mars Hill with Rev. Sherman Tweed officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
