Cornelia Marie Rice Waldrop

WEAVERVILLE - Cornelia Marie Rice Waldrop, age 87, of Weaverville, died Monday, August 27, 2018. Mrs. Waldrop was born March 1, 1931 in Madison County to the late John Byard and Hassie Jackson Rice; she was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a homemaker who enjoyed family gatherings and dogs. Marie loved to travel in her RV with her husband. She spent time growing vegetables and canning them. She also enjoyed reading. Marie was a member of Mt. Sheba Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Brownie Waldrop who died in 1999; sister, Theoria Page, and brother, Frank Rice. Surviving are her sons, Charles Larry Waldrop and wife Sandy, and Terry Allen Waldrop and wife Teleda; sister, Edna Snelson; grandchildren, Kelly Terry and husband Joey, Hunter, Caleb and Gabriel Waldrop; great-grandchild, Booker Terry; nephews Doug Mackey, Jimmy Rice and J.B. Snelson. Her graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 30, 2018 in West Memorial Park, Weaverville. Reverend Steve Rhinehart will officiate. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 29 2018 at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave. Weaverville. For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to Mt.
