Cozette Louise Gibson was born March 1, 1942, in San Francisco, California and passed away September 27, 2024 at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Care Center in Asheville, North Carolina after a two year battle with dementia. Cozette graduated from California State University at NorthRidge receiving a bachelor’s degree in accounting and obtained her Certified Public Accountant license. Later in life she graduated from Gateway Baptist Theological Seminary with a master’s in divinity, becoming an Ordained Chaplain.
After a 30 year career in accounting, Cozette devoted the last 20 years to ministering to the elderly and those challenged with mental illness in Family Group homes in California and Western North Carolina. Cozette loved sharing the Gospel, watercolor painting, golf, travel, long car rides and spending time with her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Roma Gamble and her sister Julie Vagts. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, William F. Gibson, daughter Sharon Ives, son-in-law Tim Ives, granddaughter Jasmine, son Geoffrey Chevlin, daughter-in-law Vanessa Chevlin, grandson Treyson and brother Charles Gamble.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 2:30pm at First Baptist Church in Weaverville with Rev. Dr. Stuart Lamkin officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:15pm to 2:15pm and burial will follow the service at West Memorial Park.
