ASHEVILLE – Cynthia Rae Blawat Weber, age 70, of Asheville, died Saturday, September 9, 2017. Mrs. Weber was born January 5, 1947 in Milwaukee WI to the late Leo J. and Lucille Evelyn Chapman Blawat. Cynthia was an avid gardener, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a passionate baker who made the best cookies, and enjoyed sharing them with everyone. She was known for her legendary sense of humor. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Susan Eidler and Joan Barbian; brothers, James Blawat, William Blawat and grandson Emmett James Weber. Surviving are her husband of 51 years, James J. Weber, Sr.; daughter, Tammy Sue Smith and husband Jeremie of Mattoon, IL; sons, James J. Weber, Jr. of Georgia, Kenneth J. and Steven L. Weber both of Asheville; sisters, Carol Bentley and husband James of Durango, Colorado, Sharon Knasinski and husband Dennis of Wisconsin; brother, Richard Blawat of Arizona; grandchildren, Alex S. McDonald and wife Tanara of Effingham, Illinois, Claudia Rae Smith of Charleston, Illinois, Skylar Chapman Weber of LaGrange, Georgia; great grandchildren, Benjamin McDonald and Isabelle McDonald both of Effingham, Illinois. A celebration of her life will be ongoing with family and friends. West Funeral Home is assisting the family.
