Cynthia McConnell Keefer

WEAVERVILLE– Cynthia McConnell Keefer, age 72, of Weaverville passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022, at her home.  She was born December 28, 1949, to the late Ellen Elizabeth Howey and Wayne Dallas McConnell.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Robert Steven Keefer, Jr. in 2017; and sister, Judith Bragan.

Cynthia is survived by her daughter, Tamara Lee Thomas; grandchildren, Petty Officer C. Brendan Scott and wife Alexis of Jacksonville, FL, M. Hunter Thomas and Maddison Lee Thomas, both of Weaverville; great-grandchildren, Sofia Scott and Parker Scott; brothers, Kevin, Dennis and Michael McConnell; and the father of her children, Robert Steven Keefer, Sr.

Cynthia was an avid lover of animals and involved in animal rescue for several years.  Her kitten fosters were one of the things she was most proud of, as she fostered well over 100 who went on to wonderful loving homes.  Those desiring to make a memorial contribution in Cynthia’s memory are encouraged to consider Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA), https://foha.org/ or FOHA, P.O. A private inurnment will be held by the waterfall at West Memorial Park, Weaverville, North Carolina.
