DAN GUTHRIE ALEXANDER – George Daniel Guthrie, age 84, of Flint Hill Road, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Mr. Guthrie was born February 22, 1932 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was employed at Harry’s on The Hill for over 30 years. Dan loved to fish and hunt. Mr. Guthrie was preceded in death by his parents, Allen D. Weaver and Mable Holcombe Weaver; and son, Rick Guthrie. Surviving are his daughter, Sherry; sons, Ray, Randy and wife Karen; daughter in law, Debbie; special friend and caregiver, Dorothy Brown; grandchildren, John, Dalton, Adam, Jennifer; great grandchildren, Lucas and Dylan; and his beloved little dog, Pee-Dab. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 21, 2016, in Flint Hill Cemetery, Alexander, with Chaplain Cindy Coleman officiating. The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:15p.m., Sunday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. At other times the family will be Randy’s home on Weaver Road. Flowers are welcome.
