RALEIGH - Daniel Reed Carlton, 58, of Raleigh died on Thursday, August 14, 2014, after a courageous battle against brain cancer.
He was the son of the late Rev. Daniel Edgar & Virginia Reed Carlton of Barnardsville, NC. He was a former member of Dillingham Presbyterian Church where his father was pastor.
Mr. Carlton earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Arts from Berea College in 1979. He completed his certification in computer programming at NC State University. He worked for the Dept. of Transportation as a computer programmer for 33 years. For recognition of his service to the State of North Carolina, he was inducted into the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. His love for the Lord was the driving force of his life. He was a member of the Church of the Apostles in Raleigh. He previously served as a deacon at Calvary Presbyterian Church, led bible study groups and enjoyed serving on mission trips with Crossroads Fellowship of Raleigh.
Daniel leaves behind his wife, the love of his life, Jody Graham Carlton, from Raleigh; one step-son, Robby Graham and wife, Megan; three sisters: Elizabeth Carlton Parks (Sam), from Cartersville, GA, Janet Carlton Conard (Rick), from Greenville, SC, and Gigi Carlton Moughton (Rick); and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place Saturday, August 16, from 6pm to 8pm at Renaissance Funeral Home of Raleigh. The funeral will be conducted at the Church of the Apostles, 333 Church at North Hills Street, in Raleigh on Sunday, August 17, at 3pm.
A graveside service will be held at West Memorial Park, 40 Robert Street, Weaverville, NC on Monday at 2:30 pm.
The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at West Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.
The Carlton family thanks Daniel's church community and many friends for their prayers, love and support.
