Daniel L. \ Holden

ASHEVILLE—Daniel L. "Dan" Holden, age 72, of Asheville, died Thursday, November 19, 2009. Mr. Holden was born August 25, 1937, in Buncombe County. He was a US Marine Veteran, serving from 1949 to 1953. He moved to Florida to work on fishing boats; this was something he loved to do and talk about to anyone who would talk to him. Moving back to Asheville in 1979, he worked in construction and tree service. Mr. Holden was the son of the late James Calvin and Cora Mae Hensley Holden. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Lela and Carrie. Surviving are his brother, James Albert "Slick" Holden of Weaverville, lots of nieces and nephews, and many special friends. Mr. Holden's funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, November 21, 2009, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Burial will be at a later date.
