DAVID ALLEN BARR ASHEVILLE - David Allen Barr, age 77 of Asheville died Saturday, October 17, 2015. Mr. Barr was born November 2, 1937 in Centralia, IL and lived in Illinois until 1972 when he moved to Atlanta and then settled in Asheville. He was an educator for approximately 20 years. He worked in Atlanta for Marta as a supervisor and was employed as a correctional officer with the Buncombe County Correction Office. Mr. Barr was a member of Grassy Branch Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merritt Wilford and Nellie Catherine Manees Barr; and step-daughter, Pam Swann. Surviving are his wife Joann Ingle Barr; daughters, Michelle Barr, Gabrielle Lang, Jacqueline Crowe; step-daughters, Sandra Wright, Lisa Swann; sons, Ryan Barr, Brannon Kimley; sister, Susan Key; brother, Gerald Barr. His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
