David Michael Beck

Asheville - David Michael Beck came into this world on June 25, 1983 in Asheville, NC and departed on March 2, 2019 in Worcester, MA.

David leaves behind his mother and stepfather, Martha and John Zeigler of Weaverville; father, L. Paul Beck and step-father John Parker of Asheville; half-brother, Stewart Noe of Franklin; step-brothers, Paul B. Zeigler of Montgomery, AL and John Zeigler of Leicester; maternal grandmother, Maethel Shindelman of Franklin; paternal grandmother, Erleen Beck Peterson; aunt, Rosie Treadway; uncle, Damien Shindelman of Phoenix, AZ; and cousins, Tori, Nathan, Gavin, and Spencer all of Bryson City; and many, many friends in the Asheville, Knoxville, and Worcester areas.

Living in Asheville most of his life, David was a graduate of North Buncombe High School and of UNC-A with an Environmental Science degree.  David’s great passion was Shaolin Kung Fu and he earned two black belts, often traveling to compete and to take classes from Masters and Elder Masters. David’s kindness, humor, honesty, intellectual and emotional intelligence, friendship, integrity, and devotion will be greatly missed and always remembered lovingly by family and friends. 

A celebration of David’s life will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in All Souls Cathedral, 9 Swan Street, Asheville, NC 28803. The Very Rev. Todd Donatelli and The Rev. Canon Milly Morrow will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park, Weaverville.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2019 at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to consider a charity of your choice.
