ASHEVILLE—Della Dodd Davis, age 86, of Asheville, died Monday, April 15, 2013.
Mrs. Davis was born May 22, 1926. A native of Barnardsville, she was a resident of Yancey County for most of her life and lived in Buncombe County for the last 30 years. She was a member of Richland Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pinkney E. and Ethel Riddle Dodd; husband, Howard William Davis who died in 1955; daughter, Mary Ann McMinn; son, Billy Davis; and sisters, Maddie Lou Atkins and Ada Brigman.
Surviving are her daughters, Sharon Ponder and husband Nelson and Carolyn Hollifield and husband Boyce, all of Weaverville; son, Ronnie Davis of Weaverville; son-in-law, Jim McMinn of Candler; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Nelson Ponder officiating. Burial will be in Ledford-Atkins Cemetery, Pensacola, N.C.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
