Delores Ann Rice Harper

WEAVERVILLE – Delores Ann Harper, 68, born on May 20, 1955, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 24, 2024, surrounded with love by her family.

A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Delores was the daughter of the late Grady Rice and Mildred Jones Rice. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ruthie Ledford.

Delores worked for the City of Asheville in the Water Department. Her life’s work was always focused on the simple things in life, such as her family and her passion for animals. Delores was a member of the Covenant Church of the Highlands. She was a God-fearing woman who touched the lives of many. 

Delores is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Rick Harper; children, Huie Hensley and wife Michelle, Angela Gosnell, Kelly Jones, Shawn Webb and wife Kaycee, and Isaiah Gosnell; grandchildren, Cameron Hensley, Chase Hensley (Abigail), Holly Jones (Chandler Seyk), Triston Jones (Alexis Rodriguez), Kyra Wright (Cody), Jayda King (Aaron), Emily Webb, Aubrey Smith, Addison Webb, Haylee Webb; great grandchildren, Joseph Seyk, Serenity Hensley, Abraham Wright, Kayden Hensley, Liam Hensley, Nora Jones, Axton Wright, Phoenix Hensley, GraceLynn King, and Lorelai Jones.

The funeral to celebrate Delores’ life will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Covenant Church of the Highlands, 540 Reems Creek Road, Weaverville with Pastors Timmy Burnette, Jordan Hicks, and Rickie Harper officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Covenant Church of the Highlands.
