Don Dewey Garrison

WEAVERVILLE—Don Dewey Garrison, age 65, of Weaverville, died Sunday, January 15, 2012. Don was born January 2, 1947, in Buncombe County. He retired as vice president of Hobson Construction Company and was a US Army Veteran, serving during Vietnam. Don was a member of Morgan Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Melvin and Imogene Daniels Garrison; and brothers, Jack Garrison and Morris Garrison. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Margaret Buckner Garrison; daughters, Kelly G. Rogers and husband Dale of Alexander, Amy Garrison of Weaverville, and Kristie G. Jones and husband Joe of Weaverville; sisters, Bea G. Riley of Weaverville, June Guthrie and husband Roy of Barnardsville, Jane Robinson and husband Ray of Hickory; brothers, Gene Garrison, Dan Garrison and wife Rose, and Marion Garrison, all of Barnardsville; sisters-in-law, Gloria Garrison of Barnardsville and Norma Garrison Johnson of Weaverville; grandchildren, Sara and Ashley Rogers, Joe and D.J. Jones. His funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at Morgan Hill Baptist Church with Revs. Kevin Garner, Tommy Wilkes, Gayle Brown, and Steve Conard officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence. Flowers are welcome and appreciated. Memorial contributions may be made to West Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses.
