DONNA JEAN WILD
HENDERSONVILLE - Donna Jean Wild, age 67, of Hendersonville, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 31, 2014.
Miss Wild was born April 30, 1947, she was a native of Madison County and moved to Hendersonville where she had lived since 1970. She was the daughter of the late Don and Geraldine Baker Wild of Weaverville.
Donna graduated from Walnut High School, earned a BS degree from Mars Hill University and her Master's Degree from Western Carolina University. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
After graduating from Mars Hill she taught school in Spindale for one year before transferring to Etowah Elementary in 1970. She retired from Etowah in 2002 having taught 32 years, teaching kindergarten, first grade and second grade. She touched the lives of so many students and she loved them as well as teaching, dearly. One of her greatest joys in her retirement was volunteering in the classroom where the teacher was one of her former students.
Miss Wild was a former member of North Fork Baptist Church in Madison County where one of her favorite memories was participating in the bible verse memory competitions. She was an active member of Main Street Baptist Church in Hendersonville, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, WMU leader and in many other capacities.
Surviving are her sister, Carol Buckner and husband Lowell; nieces, Sherrie Tomberlin and husband Bill, and Lori Bishop and husband Bill, all of Asheville; four great nephews, Joel Tomberlin and wife Kerry, Jared Tomberlin, Seth and Isaac Bishop; three great nieces, Brittany, Abby, and Grace Bishop; one great great nephew, Max Tomberlin; and great great niece Hallee Tomberlin. Donna's nieces and nephews were the biggest thrill for her and she loved spending time with them. She is also survived by her aunts, Ruth Fisher of Asheville, Elizabeth Baker of Marshall; uncle Wayne Faulkner of Asheville; and many cousins.
Donna was a very dedicated Christian, having accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a very early age. She was very outgoing and jolly. She never met a stranger and made friends wherever she went. She loved walking, reading, needlework, traveling and most of all spending time with family and friends.
A celebration of Miss Wild's life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church, 283 Merrimon Avenue

The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A graveside service will be held at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, 901 Aiken Road, Asheville, NC 28804 at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 6, 2014 with the Rev. Daniel Dockery officiating.
