Doris East Fisher

WEAVERVILLE - Doris Eleanor East Fisher, age 96, of Weaverville, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023.  She was born March 10, 1927, in Montgomery County, NC.  She was the daughter of Robert Lee East, Jr., and Leora Trantham East.  She graduated from Durham High School, Durham, NC, in 1945 and Duke University in 1949.  She taught school in both North and South Carolina and was on the first faculty at A. C. Reynolds High School in Buncombe County.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Cecil C. Fisher, and her parents of Greenville, SC.  She was also preceded in death by brothers Bob and Mark East of Greenville, SC.

She is survived by three children, Cheryl Fisher of Asheville, Pamela Fisher of Mount Airy, and Phillip Fisher and wife Denise of Swannanoa; and two grandchildren, Emma and Leah Fisher of Swannanoa.  She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Dolores East, and several nieces and nephews.

She was a long-time member of Weaverville United Methodist Church.

Her Funeral Service will be held at 2:30pm on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Weaverville United Methodist Church with Pastor Richard Blount officiating.  Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
