Doris Edwards Wilson

BOILING SPRINGS, SC - Doris Edwards Wilson, age 85 of Boiling Springs, SC went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Agape Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum, SC.

Ms. Wilson was born June 7, 1938, in Buncombe County and was a resident there most of her life. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. She was an avid Braves and Tarheel Basketball fan. Doris loved traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She adored her granddogs Caroline, Harley, and Sophie. They brought her much comfort, unconditional love, and joy. Her favorite foods were Mexican, ice cream, and she loved her snacks.

She retired from Mission Hospital with over 10 years of service as a Unit Secretary on the Pediatric Unit. 

Daughter of the late Ernest Cornelius Edwards and Florence Edwards, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Oss "Curly" Wilson and second husband, Lawrence "Pete" Woody, an infant son Terry Allen Wilson, along with siblings, Edwin, Penny, Burnas, and Ray Edwards. 

Surviving are daughters Sandra Johnson (Gary) of Shelby, NC, Karen Bailey (Jimmy) of Boiling Springs, SC, Sheila Singleton (Terry) of Liberty Hill, TX, brother Larry Edwards (Joyce) of Hickory, NC. Grandchildren, Shelley (Tim), Brandon (Rachel), Tabatha (Jon), Elizabeth (Rob), Colby and Caleb and 11 great Grandchildren. 

Her funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 4th, 2024, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, Weaverville, NC. Rev. Larry Edwards and Rev. Tony Hooper will officiate. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville. The family will receive friends 10:45-11:45 am prior to the service.
