DORRIS "JUNIOR" McCALL, JR. WEAVERVILLE/SUMMERTON, SC - Dorris "Junior" McCall, Jr., age 87, of Summerton, formerly of Weaverville died Saturday, July 26, 2014. Mr. McCall was born May 23, 1927 in Pickens, SC and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life until returning to Summerton in 2003. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II and was formerly employed at Morgan Mfg. and retired from Ethan Allen. He was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and woodworker. He was the son of the late Dorris McCall, Sr., and Iva Smith McCall and husband of the late Ruth Ingle McCall who died in 2002. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Donald McCall and Doug McCall. Surviving are his wife of 11 years, Dorothy Sargent McCall; daughters, Tammy Conner of Weaverville, Janice McCall Wheeler of Black Mountain, and Peggy Sisk McCall of Asheville; sons, Daniel McCall, and Bruce McCall, both of Black Mountain; sisters, Shelba Guthrie of Black Mountain, and Jeraldine Rice and husband Leslie of Black Mountain; stepsons, Craig Sargent and wife Cindy, and Randy Sargent and wife Donna, all of Orangeburg, SC; twelve grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren. His graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Piney Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, Weaverville, with Rev. Steve Freeman and Rev. Bob Ashba officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. His graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Piney Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, Weaverville, with Rev. Steve Freeman and Rev. Bob Ashba officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
