Doug Harker

Douglas Brett Harker, age 68 of 123 Leigh Circle passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021.

Douglas was born August 21, 1953 in Trenton, MI to the late Edgar and Edna Ferguson Harker.  Doug resided part-time in Boone, NC, and at his childhood home in Asheville, NC.  He was a man of many trades.  Doug was not one to sit still and was always doing things. His favorite things were picnics with Penny on the Parkway and at Grandfather Mountain, gardening, feeding his deer and turkeys, going to see the Atlanta Braves, and surf fishing at the Outer Banks of NC.

Doug is survived by his life partner, Penny C. Abe of the home; a daughter, Holly Harker; two sons, Brett and Will Harker; a sister, Kim Harker and her husband, Tom Bradberry. He will also be missed dearly by his extended family, Penny’s parents, Raymond and Sandra Abe; Penny’s sons, Joshua Quinn and his wife Tangula, and Kristopher Quinn; Penny’s grandchildren, Alex Quinn and his wife Jasmine, Blake, Hunter, Maddox and Miles Quinn.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 21, 2022, in the Veterans Garden at West Memorial Park, 40 Roberts Street, Weaverville. Deacon Katie Rivers of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Asheville, will officiate.
