Douglas McPherson

BLACK MOUNTAIN—Douglas McPherson, age 86, formerly of Blue Ridge Apartments died Wednesday, August 4, 2010. Mr. McPherson was born January 31, 1924, in Tulsa, Okla., and has lived in Buncombe County since 1958. He was the first employee of Ray's Home Improvement, where he worked as a carpenter. He was a veteran of the US Navy. Mr. McPherson was a member of Grovestone Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, James C. and Susan Marada Mullin McPherson, and his wife, Lois Rosalee Carr McPherson, who died in 2001. Surviving are his daughter, Bonnie Wyatt of Black Mountain; son, James L. McPherson of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Adrian Wyatt and Teresa Ledford; great grandchildren, Dillon, Tyler, Ashley, Heather; great great granddaughter, Kyle; and due any day will be Cloe. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 9, 2010, in the Chapel of Western North Carolina Veterans Cemetery, with Rev. James Lamb officiating. Burial will be in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain, with military rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Memorial Team.
