ASHEVILLE—Duane Lofland, age 79 passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012.
He was born and raised in Sebring, Ohio. He graduated from Goshen High School and in 1960 graduated from Carnegie College in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a medical technologist in Ohio before moving to Bradenton, Fla. where he worked at Manatee Memorial Hospital. In 1995 he retired.
For four years he served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. A member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, his hobbies were his computer and traveling in Europe.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diane Lofland; son, Ted Lofland and daughter, Elaine Fanke both of Marshall; brother, Keith Lofland of Salem, Ohio and eight grandchildren.
At his request there will be no funeral; however, memorials may be made to Doctors Without Borders USA, PO Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5030. Burial will be in Manatee County, Fla.
West Funeral Home, Weaverville is assisting the family.
