E. V. Merrill

WEAVERVILLE—E. V. Merrill, age 83, of Weaverville, died Friday, February 3, 2012, following a long illness. Mr. Merrill was born September 5, 1928 in Buncombe County and a manager of Feed-Seed Supply Co. for 34 years. He was a member of Weaverville Baptist Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. E. V. was the son of the late Cartie Roberts Merrill and Elbert Vernon Merrill, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a sister Virgina Merrill Brookshire. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Lorraine B. Merrill; son, Ray A. Merrill and wife Linda; grandsons, Jason R. Merrill and wife Sarah, Jared A. Merrill and wife Jillian all of Weaverville; sister, Alice Merrill Peace and husband Jack of Greenville, S.C. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, February 5, 2012 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Jim McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 Saturday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. At other times, the family will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 547, Weaverville, NC 28787.
