E. L. MILLER, SR. WEAVERVILLE – E. L. Miller, Sr., age 91, of Weaverville, formerly of Yancey County, died Friday, August 26, 2016 at John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center surrounded by his family. Mr. Miller was born February 21, 1925 in Yancey County and was a resident of Buncombe County for the last 23 years. He was a devoted Christian and loved his family. Mr. Miller was employed as a mechanic for NCDOT and retired after 39 years. He was a member of Millers Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Rexter and Ettie Adkins Miller and was also preceded in death by a sister and four brothers. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Marie Honeycutt Miller; daughters, Judy Levi and husband Herbert, Janet Worley and husband Everette, and Betty Tipton and husband Kenneth; sons, E. L. Miller, Jr. and wife Lisa, and Casper Miller and wife Rebecca; sisters, Fern Whitson and Nell Whitson; ten grandchildren; and seven great granchildren. His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, August 29, 2016, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Roy Whitson officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome.
