Earl Oliver Eskew

EARL OLIVER ESKEW WEAVERVILLE - Earl Oliver Eskew, age 77, of 19 Highland Street, Weaverville, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 after a seven year battle with Alzheimer's. Mr. Eskew was born February 3, 1938 in Greenville, SC to the late Eugene and Mae Teague Eskew. Earl retired from the USAF as a Master Sgt. in 1975 while living in Indiana. After retirement he worked for the Bunker Hill post office in Indiana before moving to Weaverville in 1978. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Krysten Michele Cathey Oaks; and a brother, Tommy J. Eskew. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Frances (Fran) Carlisle Eskew; son, Dion Keith Eskew and wife Michele of Marshall; daughter, Dina Marie Gross and husband Scott of Weaverville; grandson, Adrian Garrett Eskew and wife Amber and their four children of Mountain Home, AR; granddaughters, Diona Eskew and three children of Plymouth, IN, and Ashley Eskew and Ed of Candler; grandson by marriage, Ryan Oaks and son Aiden of Conover; sister, Josephine Gilreath and husband Robert of Greenville; sister-in-law, Freda Eskew of Easley, SC; and several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2015, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Pastor Keith Watkins from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church officiating; where Earl and his wife attended for over 13 years. Also speaking will be Pastor Roger Boone, a dear friend and pastor of Cedar Hill Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., prior to his service Saturday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
