Earl L. Haney

Earl L. Haney, age 88, of Weaverville died Saturday, November 17, 2018. Earl was born August 18, 1930 in Buncombe County to the late Charlie and Pearl Buckner Haney; he lived in Buncombe County all of his life. He was in the bread business for over 30 years. A veteran of the U.S. Army; he served in the Korean War. Earl loved to sing and play the guitar; go to church; but mostly he loved his family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Adamski, Lova Sluder, Helen Rogers and Wilma Taylor; brothers, Jack, Conley, Denver and Don Haney. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Henrietta Banks Haney; son, Rick Haney and wife Hazel; and daughters, Teresa Haney, Donna Liles and husband Billy, and Lisa Hardesty and husband Jimmy all of Weaverville; brother, Rev. Everette Haney of Asheville; grandchildren, Karalee Waltrip and husband Lee-Bob, Kane Endaya, and Rebekah Hardesty; along with great grandchildren, Connor and Luke Waltrip. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2018 in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Reverends Keith Watkins and Eddie Rice will officiate. Burial will be in West Memorial Park, with military honors. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at West Funeral Home, where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the funeral. At other times the family will be at the residence.
