EDDIE HENSLEY ASHEVILLE – Eddie Hensley, age 79 of 8 Keasler Circle died Monday, June 13, 2016. Eddie was born December 7, 1936 in Yancey County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. Mr. Hensley was a retired parts manager for Carolina Tractor and Equipment Company and had served in the NC National Guard for 6 years. A Duke fan he also loved jogging and had delivered Meals on Wheels for over 10 years. Eddie believed in donating blood and had given 17 plus gallons. He was a faithful member and deacon of Newbridge Baptist Church. However, Eddie felt his greatest accomplishment was being a Dad and Godly influence to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mabel Jamerson Hensley; sisters, Peggy Capps and Johnnie Hensley. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Lois Piehl Hensley; sons, Jeffrey Hensley and wife Danielle of Cary, Aaron Hensley and wife Kristin of Atlanta, GA; sister, Elizabeth Hensley of Weaverville; grandchildren, Noah, Claire, Keaya and Brooklyn Hensley. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2016, in Newbridge Baptist Church, 199 Elkwood Ave., Asheville, with Reverends Clark Henderson and Lee Roy Denton officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. At other times, the family will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to Newbridge Baptist Church, 199 Elkwood Ave, Asheville, NC 28804 or Memory Care, 100 Far Horizon Lane, Asheville, NC 28803.
