ASHEVILLE—Eddie King, age 66, of 20 Hickory Drive, died Thursday, August 14, 2008.
Eddie was born April 20, 1942 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He retired from American Enka in 1984, and later owned and operated King Landscaping from 1985—2001. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. His parents, Roy D. and Thelma King as well as his sisters, Bobbie Jean Banks and Hazel Seastrunk preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of 38 ½ years, Terry Owenby King; sisters, Lois Kelly, Louise Branson both of Gretna, La. and Judy Ballard of Mills River; brothers, Roy King of Weaverville and Richard King of Johnson City; special brother-in-law, Johnny Owenby of Fairview; special sister-in-law, Norma Anderson of Barnardsville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with the Revs. Jed Douglas and Wally Dove.
Burial will be in West Memorial Park. Serving as active pallbearers are Tyler Gunter, Frankie Gunter, Chad Owenby, Jared Owenby, Christopher Moore and Robbie Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Seth Shelton, Jermiah Shelton, Ethan Smiley, Chase James, Dylon Rice and Eli Rice.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
At other times, the family will be at the residence.
