Edith Revis Moss Stevens, age 86, of Mars Hill went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 20, 2013. Mrs. Stevens was born September 11, 1927, in Buncombe County where she had lived for most of her life. Edith worked at Hadley Corp. in Weaverville and The Pines Tourist Court. She was a foster parent for Buncombe County for 14 years, during that time she was a foster parent for over 200 children. She was the daughter of the late Ervin and Josie Rice Revis and wife of the late Robert Clell Moss who died in 1981 and Edward Lewis Stevens who died in 1989. Surviving are her son, Johnny Moss and his wife Norma; daughters, Fran Hensley, Nola Breedlove, Joyce Baldwin, and Barbie Ball; step-daughter, Shirley Smith; step-sons, Lewis Stevens, Carl Stevens, and Larry Stevens, sisters Betty Roberts, and Grace Stepp; brother, Bill Revis; ten grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 23, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Roy McPeters officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
