Edna Elizabeth Head Burton

SMITHFIELD/ASHEVILLE—Edna Elizabeth Head Burton, age 90 formerly of Asheville died Thursday May 1, 2008 in Smithfield, NC. Mrs. Burton was born September 1, 1917 in Buncombe County to the late Kyle and Lila Watkins Head. She retired from Square D Corporation. Her husband, Russell Lynn Burton also preceded her in death. Surviving are her sons, Jerry Burton of Smithfield and James Russell Burton of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; four grandchildren, Brent Burton of Washington, DC, Lara Johnson of Columbus, OH, Mary Elizabeth Burton-Williams and Jennifer Burton both of Smithfield; three, soon to be four great grandchildren, Tyler Johnson of Roanoke, Va. and Ellen Williams and Keith Williams both of Smithfield. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, Asheville. Rev. Daniel Feltner-Kapornyai of First Christian Church of Asheville as well as members of Mrs. Burton's family will officiate.
