EDWARD G. HUNTSINGER ALEXANDER - Edward G. Huntsinger, age 80, of Alexander died Sunday, April, 27 2014. Mr. Huntsinger was born December 7, 1933 in Buncombe County where he lived all of his life. He retired from MSD after 20+ years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church and was a Gideon, a member of Blackmer Masonic Lodge #170 A.F. & A.M.. Edward was a handyman and loved to help his family and friends. A son of the late Lawrence M. and Hattie Rice Huntsinger, he was also preceded in death by his wife Margaret Abernathy Huntsinger who died in 2013; sisters, Jessie Jones, Carrie Sands, and Vauldie Kalbaugh and brother, Earl Taylor. Surviving are his daughter, Tanya Huntsinger of Alexander; son, Lee Huntsinger and wife Trish of Bostic; brother, Carl Huntsinger and wife Janice of Black Mountain; granddaughter, Stacey Garrett of Alexander and grandsons, Tyler Garrett of Alexander, Zachary Huntsinger and wife Rachal of Las Vegas, and Kyle Mitchell of Bostic. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with the Reverends Roy McPeters, Jack Gassaway, and Don Harrison officiating. Masonic rites will be provided by the Blackmer Lodge. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of Tanya Huntsinger, 491 Old Hwy. 20, Alexander, NC.
