ASHEVILLE—Eileen Meyer Tuch, age 90, of Asheville, died Friday, June 3, 2011. Mrs. Tuch was born April 2, 1921, in Bergen County, N.J., the first of her family's generation born in America to her father, Joseph Meyer, a native of Switzerland, and her mother, Ellen Maher Meyer, a native of Ireland, both of whom arrived in America through Ellis Island. She was formerly a librarian. Moving to Asheville in 1991, Mrs. Tuch was active in the Weaverville Senior Center and was a member of St. Eugene where she was active in the Women's Guild. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Charles "Buddy" Tuch; sisters, Doris Mahalick and Anna Kronyak; and brothers, Frank Meyer and Joseph Meyer. Surviving are her husband of 72 years, Charles Tuch; daughter, Ellen Lawson and husband Gary of Weaverville; son, Thomas Tuch and wife Carol of Wallington, N.J.; grandchildren, Thomas Tuch, Jr., Katherine Tamburo, Tuch, Christopher and Glenmore Lawson; great grandchildren, Thomas Tuch, III, Allison, Andrew and Matthew Tuch, Anthony, Nicholas and Danielle Tamburo, and Dylan and Jaden Lawson. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2011 in St. Eugene Catholic Church, 72 Culvern St., Asheville, NC 28804. Immediately following the service there will be a luncheon at the church. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain.
