Eleanor Lee O'Donnell Starnes

WEAVERVILLE – Eleanor Lee Starnes, 91, passed away on October 2, 2023 at her home in Weaverville, NC.

Eleanor was born on December 9, 1931, in Buncombe County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Mae Ledford O’Donnell and Edward O’Donnell. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Guy Vaughn Starnes, Jr.; her daughter, Patricia Mundy Ratliff; and her sister, Kate Bayliss.

Mrs. Starnes is survived by sister, Margaret Shepherd, who was also her caregiver, and sister, Jonnie Lang (Alan). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Eleanor retired from the Buncombe County Tax Office and was active in the Democratic Party.

Mrs. Starnes’ graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Riverside Cemetery with Reverend Jim Pruitt officiating.
