Elizabeth Whitson Mason

CANDLER – Elizabeth “Beth” Ann Whitson Mason, age 64, of 35 Hidden Meadow Drive died Sunday, January 1, 2017. Beth was born April 25, 1952 in Buncombe County to the late Oscar and Dixie Arrowood Whitson. Her husband, Curtis Ray Mason, Sr. also preceded her in death in 1999. She was a beloved mother of six with nineteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was the most kindhearted woman you would ever meet, always doing whatever she could to help anyone, even if it meant giving away her last dollar. You could always count on and call on her when you needed anything. She was loved by all and lived her life full of joy. She always had a smile on her face and was so excited to see one of her grandchildren come into her house, if even for a few seconds. Family came first to her and she will truly be missed but not forgotten. Surviving are her children, Jennifer Lynn Winters, Laurisa Elizabeth Willis, Nakoa Allen Mason, Sarah Elizabeth Allen, Maria “Missy” Galloway and Curtis Ray Mason, Jr.; sisters, Rachel W. Hipps and Peggy Barnes; nineteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Her family will host a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2017 in Piney Mountain Baptist Church, 150 Elkins Branch Road, Weaverville, NC 28787. They will receive friends 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Jennifer Winters, 35 Hidden Meadow Drive, Candler, NC 28715.
