ASHEVILLE—Elizabeth Koepke McGough, age 93, of The Oaks at Sweeten Creek left her family on earth to join her family waiting in heaven on Friday, August 23, 2013.
Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Julius and Clara Meier Koepke and the wife of the late Morris L. "Mac" McGough who died in 2011. Mrs. McGough was born December 15, 1919, in Davenport, IA and was a resident of Long Beach, CA where she met her husband "Mac" at a USO Club towards the end of World War II. After marriage they moved to Louisiana and eventually settled in WNC in 1949. Elizabeth was an avid doll collector, dedicated homemaker and loving grandmother. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Asheville.
Surviving are her daughters, Marty Jollay and husband Keith of Asheville, and Maureen Williams of Asheville; son, Michael McGough and wife Michele of Canton, GA; six grandchildren, Shannon Bell-Logan of Nashville, TN, Marta McGough of Asheville, Michael B. McGough of Charlotte, Chris Wilson and wife Courtney of Nazareth, PA, Jeremy Wilson and wife Kim of Wadesboro, NC, and Jessica Wilson of Asheville; and seven great grandchildren.
Her service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2013, in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery chapel with Chaplain David Ingram officiating.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of The Oaks at Sweeten Creek for their loving care of their mother.
