Elizabeth J. Payne

ELIZABETH J. PAYNE WEAVERVILLE - Elizabeth J. Payne, age 86 of Ox Creek Road died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at her residence. Mrs. Payne was born September 8, 1928 in Guilford County and had been a resident of Buncombe County since 1973. She was a devoted pastor's wife, and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Weaverville. Mrs. Payne liked fashion, shopping and enjoyed her home. She was a daughter of the late Reverend E.M. and Zinnie Rogers Jones; and wife of the late Reverend Don A. Payne who died in 1975. She was also preceded in death by brother, Edward Jones. Surviving are her daughters, Donna Lynn Payne of Asheville, Cindy P. Plemmons and husband Jack of Aiken, SC; son, Scotty Payne of Weaverville; sister, Ida Ruth Alman of Asheboro; grandchildren, Stacey McArthur, Scott McArthur and wife Mandy; great grandchildren, Cole and Brady McArthur. Her graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 21, 2015, in Jones Family Cemetery, Ox Creek, Weaverville. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
