ELIZABETH PONDER WEAVERVILLE – Elizabeth Ponder, age 17, of Weaverville died Tuesday, July 19, 2016 after a 7 year battle with CVID. Elizabeth was born July 16, 1999 in Buncombe County to Tim and Tonya Fox Ponder. A fierce fighter and loving child, she loved and enjoyed cosmetics and her make-up, cooking and family. Elizabeth was a student at North Buncombe High School and an active member of Newbridge Baptist Youth. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Shelia “Nena” Fox. Surviving in addition to her parents are grandparents, Anthony and Joyce Fox, Pam and Dan Walters, Derryl and Tami Ponder; great grandparents, Nell Shelton, Carrol Mundy, Mary Walters, Fredia Harwood; sister, Lily Ponder; brother, Kevin Davis; several aunts, uncles, and extended family. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016, in the Newbridge Baptist Church, 199 Elkwood Ave., Asheville, NC 28804, with Reverends Clark Henderson and Anthony Fox officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
