Ellen Dellinger Hurdt

ELLEN DELLINGER HURDT ASHEVILLE – Ellen Dellinger Hurdt, age 91, of Asheville died Saturday, September 3, 2016. Mrs. Hurdt was born June 7, 1925 in Yancey County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. Ellen worked at Kmart on Patton Avenue and Sams Club as a demonstrator. She was the daughter of the late Jesse Milton and Clara King Dellinger and wife of the late Martin Hurdt. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and Claude Dellinger. Surviving are her daughters, June Tweed and Susan Wyatt; son, Jerry Hurdt; sisters, Eula Whitaker and Jessie Sluder; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2016, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Reverend Everette Haney officiating. Burial will be in French Broad Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome.
