Eloise Blankenship Sawyer

WEAVERVILLE—Eloise Blankenship Sawyer, age 90, of Vanna Court died Saturday, July 20, 2013. Mrs. Sawyer was born June 9, 1923, in Yancey County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Zeb G. and Geneva Ray Blankenship; husband, Robert E. Sawyer, Jr., who died in 2002; eleven siblings and two sons. Surviving are her son, Steve Riddle and wife Debbie Metcalf; brother, Jay Blankenship, Sr.; grandchildren, Ronnie Riddle and wife Paula, and Wanda Coffey; great granddaughter, Crystal Chapman; and sister-in-law, Aileen Dimaya. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Steve Rhinehart officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
