Elsie Banks Shook

Elsie Banks Shook, age 94, of Alexander, died Sunday, January 15, 2023.

Mrs. Shook was born on January 30, 1928, in Buncombe County where she lived all of her life. 

She retired from Vanderbilt Shirt Company after 30 years of service.  Elsie was a fashion designer and master gardener.

Mrs. Shook was the daughter of the late Otis William Banks and Frances Martha Burnette Banks and was the wife of the late Clyde “Red” Shook who died in 2003. 

Surviving her is her daughter, Delores Shook; sister, Wilma Ratcliff of Asheville; and several nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 18 in West Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17 at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville.
