Emerson E. Grassie

WEAVERVILLE—Emerson E. Grassie age 72, of New Covenant Dr. died Saturday, January 12, 2013. Mr. Grassie was born September 7, 1940 in Fremont, Ohio and was a resident of Buncombe Co. for the past 17 years. He was a retired supervisor for the Ohio Water Dept. in Toledo. Emerson was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served in the US Army during Vietnam. Mr. Grassie was the son of the late James and Viola Baker Grassie. Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Sylvia Siders Grassie; daughter, May Grassie of CA; sons, David Grassie of WV and Gerald Grassie of Fletcher; sister-in-law, Kathy Fairchild and husband Danny of Delta, OH; 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. His memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in the chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
