Emma Treadway Anderson

ASHEVILLE – Emma Treadway Anderson, 91, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at the Solace Center in Asheville.

A native of Madison County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Treadway and Julia Gosnell Treadway. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlen Avery Anderson, in 2007.  She was also preceded in death by four sister and five brothers.

A generous spirit, Emma loved cooking Sunday dinners and always made sure that guests and visitors had something to eat. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning. She loved sewing and quilting as well. Emma was a long-time member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Taylor and husband, Eddie of Candler, and Arlene Eubank and husband, Mike of Candler; two sons, Eddie Anderson and wife, Peggy of Leicester and Duane Anderson and wife, Christy of Alexander. Emma is also survived by six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30pm on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, in the chapel of West Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Watkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 1pm until 2pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, 901 Aiken Road, Asheville.
