Ernest E. Franks

WEST ASHEVILLE—Ernest E. Franks, age 87, West Asheville, died Friday, February 8, 2013. Mr. Franks was born July 24, 1925, in Buncombe County. He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army Air Forces serving during World War II. Ernest was the son of the late Jesse B. and Bonnie Anderson Franks. Surviving are his children, Sherrill Franks and wife Jennifer, Gloria F. Anderson and husband Hank, Terry E. Franks and wife Verne, Edward A. Franks and wife Charlotte, Lydia Darlene Jones and husband Richard, and Jeffrey B. Franks; 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. His service was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2013, in the Chapel of Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Cliff Franks officiating. Military Graveside Rites were conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. At other times, the family was at the home of Gloria Anderson, 309 Paint Fork Road, Barnardsville, NC 28709. West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, was in charge of arrangements.
