REV. EUGENE DUYCK
BARNARDSVILLE - Rev. Eugene Duyck age 89, of 572 Paint Fork Road died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at John F. Keever Solace Center.
Rev. Duyck was born October 7, 1925 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. A veteran of World War II he served in the US Army and was a P.O.W. for three months. Rev. Duyck was a pastor for 50 years, serving at Grace Freewill Baptist Church in Cruso, Faith Freewill Baptist Church in Black Mountain, Paint Fork Freewill Baptist Church, Barnardsville and Bald Mountain Freewill Baptist. Eugene was a son of the late Lattie and Enoch Harwood Duyck. He was also preceded in death by his son, Grady Duyck; sisters, Edith White and Margaret Duyck and brothers, Jerry and Rex Duyck.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Dale Burrell Duyck; son Lamar Duyck and wife Joyce of Weaverville; daughter-in-law, Jean Duyck of Barnardsville; brother, Charles Duyck of Old Fort; grandchildren, Scott, Mickey and Travis Duyck; three great grandsons and one great granddaughter.
His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Rev.'s Larry Coates, and Burl Ledford officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park with Rev. Archie Cook officiating for the committal service.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:15 pm on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the funeral.
At other times, the family will be at the residence.
