Eugene Edwards

BURNSVILLE – Eugene Edwards, age 69, of Burnsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Solace Hospice Center.  He was born on February 4, 1954, in Buncombe County, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Tommy Dale Edwards and Estory Williams Edwards. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Vernon Edwards.

Eugene grew up in Buncombe County and lived much of his life in Yancey County.   He worked for many years at Champion Clothing Company and later at Daville of Asheville. Eugene was proud to be a volunteer at Woodfin Volunteer Fire Department.  He collected die cast cars and loved old cars and hot rods. One of his favorite activities was attending bluegrass and folk festivals. His fun sense of humor and playfulness will be forever missed.

He is survived by his brother, Larry James Edwards and wife Mary; his aunt, Estelle Chambers; nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Travis, and Justin Edwards, Stacey Stasiowski and husband Matt, Chris Ellis and wife Tanya, and Dawn Ward and husband Jonathan; and many great and grand nieces and nephews. He had many special friends at Sunny Hill Nursery, and especially cherished his friendship with Lane Ramsey.

A Celebration of Life will be held next summer to bring family and friends together to celebrate Eugene.
