ASHEVILLE—Eula Jane Pilkington Griffin, age 85, of 547 Eliada Home Road, Asheville, received her call to enter the gates of Heaven to her new home and was greeted by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and all those family members who have gone before her, on Thursday, July 8, 2010.
Eula was born on June 5, 1925, in Swain County and was the daughter of the late John and Victoria Pilkington; sister of the late Dora Herron, Inez Rose, Ora Conley, Landon, Howard, James, and Frank Pilkington.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard Griffin of the home; her children, Ora Lee Kerlee and husband Jerry of Black Mountain, Joyce Turner and husband George of Jefferson, GA, Roy Hall and wife Mary of Lexington, TN; brothers, William Sebern Pilkington of Marion and Bryce Pilkey of Hickory; grandchildren, Rick and Brandon Kerlee of Old Fort, Tammy and Stanley Kerlee of Greenville, SC, Stephanie Haecherl of Fort Mill, SC, and Matthew Lankford of Weaverville. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and special friends, step-nephew Allen Taylor and caretaker Monica Mendez.
Her graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Sugar Hill Road, Old Fort, with Rev. Roy McPeters officiating. She will be at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, prior to the service at Bethlehem Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted; however, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to John F. Keever Solace Center, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the loving and sensitive care provided by the Hospice staff and professionals.
