BLACK MOUNTAIN – Rev. Evelyn L. Eagle, age 88, of Black Mountain, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the Solace Hospice Center in Asheville.
Rev. Eagle was born on November 2, 1935, in Greenville, South Carolina to Charles T. Eagle, Sr. and Helen R. Eagle. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Charles T. Eagle, Jr. and his wife, Patsy Eagle.
A resident of Texas for many years, she received a degree in Home Economics and Interior Design from the University of Texas at Austin. Rev. Eagle was a minister with the Evangelistic Messengers Association for 68 years, holding revivals and meetings all across the country. She moved to Western North Carolina in 1971, and had dreams of beginning her own church, Eden Found, Inc. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She also enjoyed cooking and caring for plants.
Rev. Eagle is survived by her daughter, Rachel K. Scott; her niece, Louise Eagle; nephews, Tom Eagle (Catherine), Tim Eagle (Terri), and Todd Eagle (Parmis); and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She will be laid to rest at West Memorial Park in Weaverville beside her mother.
