ASHEVILLE—Evelyn Silver Kent, age 87, of Old Weaverville Rd., died Tuesday, May 22, 2012.
Mrs. Kent was born August 20, 1924, in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She retired from Connie's Fashions. She was a charter member and Sunday School teacher at both Morning View Baptist Church and Fellowship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Foy and Bettie Ray Silver; husband, Calvin Coolidge Kent who died in 2005; her sister and three brothers.
Surviving are her daughters, Lorraine Baker and husband Lane, Gail Revis and husband Glen, and Debra Aly and husband Roger, all of Weaverville; sons, Rev. Jerry C. Kent and wife Geneva of Weaverville, and David C. Kent and wife Wendy of Waxahachie, Texas; brother, Jack W. Silver of Asheville; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 25, 2012, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, with Rev. Jerry Kent officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
