EVELYN "SISTER" JONES STYLES WEAVERVILLE/ CONCORD - Evelyn "Sister" Styles, age 73, of Concord died on Friday, January 31, 2014. Evelyn was born October 1, 1940, in Weaverville and was a resident of Concord since 1968. She retired from the Cabarrus County school system in 2007, after 30 years of service. Evelyn loved working in her flower garden and cherished her family and friends. She was the daughter of the late James C. and Willie James Burnette Jones and wife of the late Gibson Styles who died in 1983. She was also preceded in death by her brother Dalph Jones. Surviving are her daughters, Wendy Pollard, and Teresa Tennant and husband George; grandchildren, Shannon Morris, Nicholas Tennant, and Danika Tennant; sisters, Joanne Hendrix and husband Eddie, Iva Nell Parham and husband Herman; sister-in-law, Lynda Jones; twin brother, Edwin "Brother" Jones; brothers, Tommy Jones, and Richard Jones and wife Vera. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, February 2, 2014, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Gerald Sprinkle officiating. Burial will be in Piney Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Sunday prior to the service.
