Florence Eola Evans

WEAVERVILLE – Florence “Eola” Evans went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 10, 2024, at age 98.

Eola was born and raised here, spending her early years in Canton, NC where her father worked at the paper mill. They later moved to Weaverville to a log bungalow near the end of North Main Street. After marriage she and her late husband, Reggie Evans built their home on a portion of his father’s farm on Gentry Branch Road. 

Eola was a wonderful neighbor to all and always happy to lend advice to anyone that would ask about her gardening and canning techniques, for which she was well known.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Reggie Evans; mother and father, Lucy Parker McMahan and Arthur McMahan; brother, Denton, and sister, Harriett Ball.

She is survived by her daughter, April Fox; son, Mark; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Her memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM, Monday, June 17, 2024, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home. Reverends Dalton Ramsey and Richard Stillwell will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service. Private burial will be in Morgan Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Weaverville.
