Frances Diane Hyatt Raby

Frances Diane Hyatt Raby, age 66, of Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

Mrs. Raby was born on May 7, 1958, in Buncombe County and was a 1976 graduate of North Buncombe High School and attended AB Tech receiving her nursing degree while simultaneously raising her three children and fulfilling new duties at work and as a minister’s wife. She retired from Sulpher Springs Health Center. Diane was a faithful Christian and attended church all her life and had many roles over the years; teaching Sunday School, VBS and Awana. She played lead role in the drama “Oh What A Saviour.” Diane attended Sunrise Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir, playing ladies softball and league bowling. 

Mrs. Raby was the daughter of the late J. Maurice and Blanche Shuford Hyatt of Barnardsville and was the wife of the late Rev. Joel Raby. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Rickey Lynn Hyatt; and niece, Kelly Rickards.

Surviving are her daughters, Katrina Rice and husband Steven, Melissa Singleton and husband Joshua; son, Rev. Jeremy Raby and wife Vera; sisters, Rebecca Oliver and husband Michael, Marcia Paul and husband Frank; brothers, LaMarr Hyatt and wife Shirl, and Mickey Hyatt and wife Cindy; 15 grandchildren, Moriah Raby, Jadyn Robinson, Zephaniah and Zoi McMahan, Nehemiah and Jocelyn Mance, Hannah Lehman and husband Zachary, Madison, Avery, Constance and Chloe Raby, Noah and Sarah Foster, Leathan and Destiney Singleton; and great grandchildren, Temperance Clements, Dalia and Stella Lehman, and Me’Kai Cosby.

Mrs. Raby’s funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, November 21, 2024, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with the Rev. Jeremy Raby officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Sheba Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends the evening before from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at West Funeral Home.
