Frances Mackey Poston

FRANCES MACKEY POSTON WEAVERVILLE - Frances Mackey Poston, age 96, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 at Mars Hill Retirement Community. Mrs. Poston was born August 17, 1917, in Buncombe County where she had lived most of her life. Frances worked for Hahn Shoe Store and Hadley Corp. in Weaverville. She was a long time member of Weaverville United Methodist Church. Frances was a tailor and made samples for several manufacturing companies. Frances formerly worked for Douglas Aircraft in California and she made seat covers for General Dwight Eisenhower's aircraft. She was the daughter of the late Austin and Eujenia Parker Mackey and wife of the late Shelby Hensley who died in 1985 and John F. Poston who died in 2000. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Libby Hensley, brothers, L.B., Charles, John, and Sam Mackey; and sisters, Lucile Cole, and Carolyn McHone. Surviving are her daughter, Elaine Hensley Robinson of Weaverville; sisters, Isabel Cole of Weaverville, Marie Clauhs and husband Fred of Weaverville, and Carlie Boyer of Danielsville, GA; brother, Marvin Mackey and wife Birty of Alexander; grandson, Alan Garrison of Asheville; granddaughter, Leisa Kimbrough; and great grandson, Noah Kimbrough of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2014, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Linda Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Clark's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Elaine Robinson, 403 Ky Fields, Weaverville, NC 28787. Pallbearers will be Ronnie, Alan, Doug, and Dewain Mackey, Freddie and Paul Clauhs, Austin Cole and Dale Boyer.
